If you are struggling with a subject at school or college or you simply wish to support your learning with an extra pair of hands, then a tutor is a great idea. To find a tutor which fits your needs however is not as easy as just finding one online and recruiting them. There are several aspects to look for when it comes to finding the right tutor for you which we are going to discuss today. Getting the right tutor means that you are much more likely to have a successful experience when you do get that support. This is what to consider when it comes to getting the right tutor for you.
Your Budget
In reality your budget is going to be one of the most important factors here, especially when we consider that a tutor will need to see you at least once per week. Lower cost tutors are not always bad, it is more likely that they are inexperienced and so if you do have a tight budget then these could certainly be the kind of tutor that you could consider. If you can afford the best, then of course this is preferable.
Subject Specific
There are a great number of tutors out there who have skills which stretch across a number of topics, and they will offer support in those topics. Unfortunately however, especially for those at the higher levels, they always have one subject where they are stronger than the rest. This is why you should aim to find a tutor who is great in a single subject rather than one which boasts multiple subjects.
Location of Tutorship
Another key consideration to make is where you want to have the tutoring sessions, and whether or not you wish to do this face to face. If you are happy to have online tutoring sessions then this of course opens you up to local and international tutors, if however you are the type of person who would prefer to learn and be supported face to face, then this of course limits your search area.
Level of Support
Always pay attention to what level of support it is that you are looking for. The reason for this is that you may find tutors who are relatively young and inexperienced who can offer great support to high school kids. They parameters may be reached however when it comes to helping a college student out, so always be sure to ask these questions to anyone who you are interested in using.
And finally it will be important to have a face to face with your potential tutor, just to make sure that you feel comfortable in their presence and so that you feel as though you can learn from them. This is not exactly personal, it is just sometimes there are certain personality types which we don’t learn from as well as others.
This is how you can make sure that you find the right tutor.
