Many years ago I would never had dreamed of spending huge amounts of money at a restaurant but these days it is something which I actually really enjoy doing. In fact just last week I was at the amazing bistro of Adam Seger and whilst it wasn’t eye waveringly expensive, it wasn’t exactly cheap. Now it is not that I am making more money now than I did back then, I just have a different approach to life and a very different approach to food. So many people turn their noses up at the thought of spending a good amount of money at a restaurant, but here is why I think it is in fact a very good idea indeed.
What so many pope fail to understand is that whilst I may spend a large amount on a nice restaurant, I don’t make frivolous spends each day on poor quality food. I have some many friends who are happy to spend $150 each and every month on sandwiches and fast food, whereas I’d rather go out once per month and drop that kind of cash on a top end meal. I can assure you that my single experience in the nice restaurant would be far greater than the combined experiences which they will have getting all of that fast food.
Many people think that they know great food but it truly isn’t until you have been to top quality restaurants that you really get an understanding for this. Even if you are cooking at home, we can all buy a high end cut of eat or a fancy piece of fish, but we don’t get the rest right. I am talking about the jus, the sauces and even the seasonal veg, this is what really makes these dishes stand out and it is why so many people love them.
My favorite thing in a top quality restaurant is the service and the extras which you get. I love to chat with waiters and waitresses who truly feel passionate about the food and who know all about the source and how it is all prepared. For me this is as much as an educational experience as it is a gastronomical one and that is why I truly am happy to pay that little bit extra for a top quality service and meal.
For anyone who truly loves their food this is just a delightful experience which fills you with joy not for the night but for days that follow. Even now I love to chat with family and friends about the best restaurants around here and those which I have visited and loved. This for me is why I am always happy to pay that little bit extra for the very finest food, cooked by great chefs, in amazing locations.
